Deck Builder in Cumming, GA

Composite decks, screened porches and sunrooms for Cumming and Forsyth County homeowners, with Forsyth's deck permit and your HOA approval handled for you.

Decks, porches and sunrooms for Cumming homes

Cumming is where a lot of North Atlanta's newest homes are, and new homes come with builder-grade decks that owners replace or expand within a few years. Sands Construction Group builds composite decks, screened porches, sunrooms and porch fireplaces for Cumming and the rest of Forsyth County, from the neighborhoods along GA-400 to the lake lots on the west side of Lanier.

We're based in Dacula and Buford, about 30 minutes away, and we build in Forsyth County regularly. Free in-home estimates, Trex Pro Partner pricing on composite, and one crew from footings to final inspection.

Deck permits in Cumming and Forsyth County

Forsyth County's Deck/Porch permit covers the installation or structural repair of a deck regardless of its height. Non-structural repairs, such as replacing floor boards or repairing guards on a deck less than 30 inches above grade, do not need a permit. The county requires a site plan showing the new deck, the house and other structures, and its inspection sequence for a deck runs setback, footing, rough (if the framing will be covered) and final. Permits expire 12 months after issuance, and deck framing is checked against section R507 of the residential code.

Inside the Cumming city limits, permits go through the City of Cumming Planning & Zoning Department at 100 Main Street, (770) 781-2024, with plans submitted electronically. Under the state residential code adopted January 1, 2026, a freestanding deck no more than 30 inches above grade and no more than 200 square feet is exempt from a building permit, but setbacks still apply.

We prepare the site plan and drawings, submit the permit, and schedule every inspection. If your neighborhood has an HOA, we prepare the architectural-review package as well.
